Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, interpret findings, and develop written plans of care with specific goals for neurological rehabilitation patients. Implement physical therapy treatment programs, including basic skills and one-on-one therapy for conditions like TBI, stroke, and spinal cord injury. Monitor patient progress regularly to adjust goals and plans, while instructing patients and caregivers using appropriate motivational methods. Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and insurance companies, and document all care accurately in medical records. Manage time effectively and ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to all hospital policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program
- Current or temporary license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Doctoral degree along with a residency or fellowship program
- Licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis
- Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
- Ability to push and lift 75 – 100 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to walk frequently
- Ability to stoop and squat frequently
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to observe physical characteristics
