Job Summary
Collect clinical specimens from patients of all age populations to ensure accurate laboratory testing. Assess data reflective of patients' current status in relation to their age-specific needs and demonstrate knowledge of age-dependent expected values. Select proper instrumentation and supplies appropriate for the patient served while maintaining good dexterity and hand control. Communicate with healthcare providers by telephone to obtain or give critical information regarding patient care. This role requires standing, walking, and bending, with flexibility in scheduling and subject to call-backs as needed. Exposure to normal clinical laboratory hazards, including disease-bearing specimens and toxic chemicals, is inherent to the position.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Level II – High School Graduate or Equivalent and completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program or one-year full-time experience
- Level III – Certified ASCP PBT or equivalent
- Good Dexterity and hand control
- Ability to distinguish sound in low to high range to assure proper operation of clinical equipment
- Ability to communicate with other healthcare providers by telephone to obtain or give information critical to patient care
- Ability to meet and relate to people
- Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients' needs that is age-appropriate
- Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for age group of patient served

Desired Qualifications
- Level I, II, or III – No experience required but preferred
- Completion of an approved clinical phlebotomy program preferred
