Job Summary
Director of Youth Ministry leads a parish-based program for middle and high school youth, focusing on discipleship, prayer, catechesis, service, and active parish involvement. Collaborates with the Pastor, parish staff, and families to integrate youth ministry into the life of the parish, designs and evaluates a comprehensive program, recruits and trains staff and volunteers, and manages the annual youth ministry budget. Requires a Catholic faith life, a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), 3–5 years in youth ministry, and relevant certifications; evening/weekend availability and successful completion of background checks and Protecting God’s Children training. Strong interpersonal, teaching, and organizational skills, and proficiency with parish databases and Office/Workspace tools are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3–5 years of relevant youth ministry experience
- Certification in Youth Ministry strongly preferred
- Catechist certification through the Diocese of Columbus (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge of Catholic sacramental theology and youth ministry principles
- Background check (BCI&I) and Protecting God’s Children (VIRTUS) training prior to employment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
