Job Summary
The Baggage Handling Agent is responsible for loading, unloading, and sorting passenger luggage efficiently and safely. This role requires adherence to safety procedures and security protocols. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, eligible to work in the U.S., and possess a valid Washington state driver's license. Responsibilities include operating baggage handling equipment, sorting luggage, conducting inspections for damage or security risks, and maintaining cleanliness in handling areas. Physical stamina and attention to detail are essential. The position involves working flexible shifts in a fast-paced airport environment.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must have a valid Washington state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Eligibility to obtain required credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, U.S. Postal Service, as applicable)
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operational environment
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience preferred
- Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including use of tablets, computers, and mobile devices
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers in person and electronically
Additional Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly
- Prolonged standing and walking in indoor and outdoor environments
- Ability to reach with arms and grasp with hands
- Ability to push, pull, bend, stretch, squat, kneel, crouch, and crawl, including in confined spaces
- Ability to climb and work at elevated heights
- Exposure to moderate to high noise levels
- Ability to hear and respond to spoken voice and audible alarms
- Tasks involving repetitive arm, wrist, hand, and finger movements
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
