Job Summary
Provide engaging numeracy instruction targeting GED preparation and the Mathematical Reasoning exam section. Develop lesson plans addressing diverse adult learner needs while conducting assessments to evaluate progress and adjust teaching strategies. Offer supplemental tutoring and utilize distance learning tools to support transitions into post-secondary education or employment. Maintain a respectful classroom environment, track student attendance and outcomes, and submit timely reports to the Assistant Director. Modify instruction for varying academic levels and incorporate workplace skills like financial literacy into daily math lessons.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum three years of experience in education
- Ability to address the needs of students in a rolling enrollment environment
- Previous experience working with at risk, LD population, aged 16 to 24, and beyond
- Some proficiency in using online programs and software for instruction and tracking student progress
Desired Qualifications
- RI Teacher Certification preferred, but not necessarily required
- A passion for adult education, lifelong learning, and for truly making a difference in the lives of program participants
- Ability to incorporate workplace skills as an important vehicle for daily mathematics instruction - taking advantage of opportunities and available resources to contextualize mathematics via financial literacy; budgeting; saving money to achieve future goals, such as renting an apartment, owning a home, and/or leasing a car, as examples
