Job Summary
Teach assigned Religious Studies courses for adult and non-traditional learners in evening, weekend, hybrid, and/or online formats using approved curricula and institutional standards. Develop student-centered learning experiences that foster critical thinking, informed dialogue, and ethical reflection across biblical studies, theology, world religions, and ethics. Maintain organized Blackboard course sites with current materials, assignments, and grades while providing clear syllabi, expectations, and timely feedback. Monitor attendance and academic performance to identify students needing support, then refer them to appropriate college resources. Submit required documentation including attendance records and grades by established deadlines while participating in orientation, professional development, and departmental meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in religious studies, Theology, Divinity, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution
- doctorate
- At least 18 graduate credit hours in Religious Studies or the assigned teaching discipline
- Previous teaching experience in higher education, adult education, or a comparable instructional setting
- Experience supporting adult and nontraditional learners
- Demonstrated knowledge of religious traditions, sacred texts, theology, ethics, and the historical and cultural influence of religion
- Strong communication, organizational, instructional, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a flexible teaching schedule, including evening and weekend courses
- Proficiency with Blackboard or a comparable learning management system
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in religious studies, Theology, Divinity, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution; doctorate preferred
- Experience teaching hybrid or online courses
