Job Summary
LMSW psychotherapist delivers individual and group mental health treatment at the Downtown Brooklyn Health Center, serving a diverse population with trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and coordinated care within A28 and OMH guidelines. Responsibilities include conducting psychosocial assessments, risk assessment, safety planning, DSM diagnoses support, treatment planning, psychotherapy (individual and group), psychoeducation using evidence-based approaches (e.g., Problem Solving Treatment, Behavior Activation, Motivational Interviewing), outreach for missed appointments, collaborative care with interdisciplinary team, documentation and billing within 24-48 hours, and participation in meetings, supervision, and continuing education. The role requires Master’s in Social Work and NYS licensure (LMSW or LCSW), a minimum of 2 years’ clinical mental health/substance use experience, bilingual Spanish preferred, and compliance with HIPAA and program guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work
- Current NYS licensure (LMSW or LCSW) or permit from the New York State Education Department
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in providing mental health and substance use counseling/therapy within a clinical setting
- Well versed in diagnosis, therapy, educational programs and development of treatment plans
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Bi-lingual Spanish preferred
