Job Summary
The Psychometrist will interview and administer a wide range of neuropsychological and psychiatric tests to patients (adult, adolescent, and child) with known or suspected conditions, adapting approaches to each patient’s needs. Responsibilities include administering and scoring numerous tests, converting raw scores to standard scores, compiling data for interpretation, maintaining testing materials, coordinating referrals, supervising psychology interns during rotations, and ensuring confidentiality. The role requires proficiency with standardized testing procedures, ability to interact effectively with medical school and legal personnel within hospital and community settings, and the capacity to handle high-stress environments in psychiatric/neurological contexts. Physical duties include movement and potential physical restraint in inpatient settings, with work performed primarily at Chestnut Ridge Center in Morgantown, WV as part of WVU Health System. It also involves data collection for research, maintaining records, and collaborating with department staff and interns/supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- One (1) year of experience in a mental health center, medical center, psychological service, an internship in psychological test administration or general customer service
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable)
- Specific training in administration of psychometric and personality assessment devices (preferred)
- Interpersonal and communication skills with patients, faculty, staff, and outside referral sources
