Job Summary
Evaluate and diagnose inmates/detainees for mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, including assessing suicide risk and determining placement needs. Coordinate mental health functions by supervising and training staff, while providing psychotherapy, counseling, and treatment for referred patients. Make appropriate referrals to psychiatrists or other professionals as necessary, and instruct staff on recognizing suicide risk factors. Document all services and comprehensive notes in patient medical records, and provide in-service education for medical and correctional personnel. Maintain a current state psychology license on file at the facility.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or PsyD in Psychology from an accredited University
- Current license in Psychology in the State in which the facility is located
- Licensure/certification in accordance with the contract requirements
- Must hold a current license or certification in Psychology in the state in which the facility is located
- Maintains a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of correctional work experience
