Job Summary
Administer and interpret psychological tests to evaluate student abilities for school placement, while providing mandated counseling for IEP and IFSP caseloads with an emphasis on non-verbal techniques. Conduct psychological evaluations in accordance with New York State regulations, write accurate session notes, quarterly progress reports, and draft IEP documents. Develop and implement behavior intervention plans through consultation, observation, and functional behavioral assessments. Collaborate with school leadership to coordinate IEP meetings, serve on committees such as Ethics and Palliative Care, and act as a bereavement counselor for children, families, and staff. Provide clinical supervision to interns and present at conferences.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or PsyD in Psychology
- New York State License in Psychology
- Two years experience with special needs and/or medically fragile children
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies
- Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this School, which includes a medical and physical examination
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
Desired Qualifications
- New York State Certification in School Psychology preferred
Additional Requirements
- Will be subject to frequent interruptions
- May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary
- Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the children’s blood/body fluids
