Job Summary

Deliver culturally sensitive behavioral health services to clients under supervision, including administering psychological testing, conducting assessments, and developing individualized treatment plans. Provide individual, family, and group counseling, crisis intervention, and rehabilitation services while documenting progress in compliance with Department, State, and Federal policies. Coordinate outpatient treatment, facilitate referrals to external agencies, and collaborate with community and State agencies to ensure a continuum of care for Tribal members. Participate in weekly clinical staffing and supervision, perform outreach interventions, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and professional ethics. Complete assignments with considerable independence, utilizing diagnostic tools to assess mental illness and co-occurring disorders.

Required Qualifications

Permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice Psychology in the State of Alaska, another state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
Current valid State of Alaska driver's license with a record acceptable to KIC's Insurance carrier
Two to five years clinical field work experience
Background in communicating and interacting effectively in cross-cultural situations
Completion of doctoral degree (Ph.D. or PsyD.) in Clinical / Counseling Psychology
Knowledge of State and Federal guidelines for clinical programs and 'best practice' techniques
Knowledge of social problems experienced by Alaska Natives and American Indians
Knowledge of alcohol and substance abuse services available in the community and some familiar with state-wide services
Knowledge of screening and identification of symptoms of alcohol/drug abuse and withdrawal
Knowledge and ability to carry out federal confidentiality rules for clients seeking substance abuse services
Knowledge and ability to utilize diagnostic tools for assessment and diagnostic purposes
Skill to operate software programs
Ability to provide behavioral health treatment services in a clinical and community-based setting
Ability to exercise mature judgment in evaluating specific situations and recommending solutions
Ability to listen, observe, and record a variety of information and situations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with clients, peers, public and private agencies, Tribal members, and the general public
Ability to communicate professionally over the telephone and in person in a positive and clear manner
Ability to manage multiple tasks, including telephone, computer operations and in-person visits simultaneously
Ability to take verbal instruction and complete assigned project by established deadline
Ability to be flexible in order to perform at the highest level as a team player
Ability to utilize maximum degree of professionalism and diplomacy with those who may be experiencing a high degree of stress both mentally and/or physically (both patients and co-workers)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and able to prioritize assignments
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all KIC operations and staff
