Job Summary
Diagnose and treat newly admitted, convalescent, and chronic patients through physical, mental, and neurological examinations while prescribing medications for physical and psychological disorders. Review medical information for social security disability benefits, provide expert opinions on claims, and offer testimony in courts and administrative hearings. Conduct group and family therapy sessions, direct nursing and support staff, and prepare diagnostic reports for judges, government officials, and school personnel. Participate in staff conferences, research cognitive disorders, and deliver speeches on mental hygiene. Maintain confidentiality, respond promptly to customer requests, and work weekends and shifts as assigned within the Western Wayne Family Health Center.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine
- Board Eligible/Certified in a primary care specialty from an accredited school of medicine
- Completion of three years of successful training in a psychiatric residency-training program which yields a certificate of completion
- Possession of a unrestricted license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in Michigan
- Possession of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology 'general requirements' for certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Must be currently holding, or eligible for, admitting privileges and member in good standing at community and/or tertiary hospitals
- Receives advanced training in the field of psychiatry or neurology
