Job Summary
Conduct psychiatric care for youth and young adults ages 13-30 with suspected or confirmed first-episode psychosis within a multidisciplinary team. Manage medication, provide individual and family therapy, handle crisis management, and offer consultation to the team. Facilitate continuity of care between hospital and community settings while collaborating on concurrent substance use disorders. Report to the Medical Director and Senior Medical Director, with optional on-call participation and occasional community outreach visits. Maintain a recovery-oriented approach, ensuring culturally safe care for Indigenous patients and trauma-informed practices.
Required Qualifications
- Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Full
- Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) - Eligible
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) - Eligible
- Current appointment as clinical faculty with University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine
- Strong knowledge base in psychopharmacology
- Strong knowledge base in cognitive/behavioral interventions
- Ability to facilitate continuity of care between hospital and community
- Ability to liaise with hospital physicians and staff
- Ability to report to the Medical Director, Vancouver Community Mental Health & Substance Use Services
- Ability to report through the Medical Director to the Senior Medical Director
- Ability to participate in on-call (optional)
- Ability to provide individual and family therapy
