Job Summary
Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions for facility residents while overseeing medication management, therapy, and evidence-based treatment plans. Oversee mental health screenings and evaluations, respond to acute crises, and support patient rehabilitation and community transition. Coordinate educational training, ensure compliance with state and federal mandates, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including correctional staff, psychologists, and social workers to develop treatment plans. Maintain confidentiality, adhere to correctional healthcare policies, and interpret data to create individualized care strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in the state of AL
- A current DEA registration in the state
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
- Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills
- Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals, correctional staff and judges
- Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
