Job Summary

Administer treatment programs for mentally and emotionally disturbed patients, assist medical and surgical patients with illnesses or injuries, and provide therapeutic evaluation within the Family Advocacy Program. Conduct patient consultations per Naval Hospital guidelines, deliver documented procedures using HMSI standards, and perform timely, accurate patient care documentation. Operate automated systems including CHCS and AHLTA, participate in peer review and performance improvement activities, and provide on-call and callback services as required. Comply with Joint Commission standards, HIPAA policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws while maintaining a valid driver's license.

Required Qualifications

  • Have completed a residency training program in Psychiatry and neurology approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association or those Canadian training programs approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or other appropriate Canadian medical authority.
  • Possess and maintain Board Certification in Psychiatry.
  • Have a minimum of 1-year full-time experience as a Psychiatrist within the last 3 years.
  • HCW shall be in good standing, and under no restrictions, with the state licensure board in any state in which a license is held or has been held within the last 10 years.
  • HCW shall be in good standing and under no sanction or suspension by the Federal Government.
  • Possess and maintain current certification in either the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course.
  • Ability to pass all background/suitability checks.
  • A valid driver's license; ability to travel locally as needed.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Desired Qualifications

  • A thorough understanding of the military lifestyle and experience working with military family members.
  • Working knowledge of relevant military, state, federal, and local laws and resources.
  • Highly developed written, oral, and presentation communication skills
  • An active Security Clearance is preferred.
