Job Summary
Psychiatrist needed to provide leadership and coordination of the mental health program for inmates/residents in a facility. Responsibilities include direct patient care, assessing and diagnosing using DSM, prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications, delivering counseling (individual, group, and family), developing and implementing treatment programs, supervising and mentoring facility-based mental health staff, collecting and analyzing data/reports, improving operational efficiency, participating in civil commitment proceedings, accepting on-call duties, and serving as a mental health liaison to staff and community resources.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited college or university with an advanced degree in psychology, or an appropriate degree in a related clinical area and appropriate certification or license (or meet educational requirements for licensing in the state of employment, if greater).
- Five years clinical experience, which includes two years in a comparable position.
- A valid driver's license is required.
