Psychiatrist - Addiction Specialist

Job Summary
The Psychiatrist provides medical leadership and direct patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team within MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH). The role supports patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance-use disorders across inpatient and ambulatory settings, collaborating with MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital inpatient units and ambulatory clinics, and other regional entities including treatment and recovery courts. Additional inpatient weekend and holiday call opportunities are reimbursed separately. The position emphasizes medical leadership, comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment, coordination of care across the MHBH continuum, and participation in a high-functioning team to improve patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School
- Completion of internship and/or approved residency
- Addiction psychiatry fellowship training is helpful, but not required
- 3+ years’ experience inclusive residency and/or fellowship training
- Current or eligible licensure as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine or eligible to do so
- Certified or board eligible in an approved medical specialty
- Current DEA Registration Certificate
- Meet other credentialing criteria defined in Medical Staff By-laws
