Job Summary
Conduct patient safety rounds every 15 minutes, deliver patient care, and assist with activities of daily living including EKGs, blood glucose testing, and nutritional needs. Lead goals/wrap up groups, manage code secure activities with security, and respond to escalating situations involving potentially combative patients. Complete admission and discharge processes, document observations in the EMR, and perform clerical duties under nursing supervision. Maintain a safe therapeutic milieu by identifying hazards, ensuring equipment is used correctly, and providing cultural and psychological support to patients and families.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- De-escalation training successfully completed within 4 months of hire and maintained going forward
- Ability to obtain AHA BLS-HCP
- Valid Virginia State Driver's license
- Experience with or the ability for managing patients with explosive potential and/or escalating situations
- Ability to function with minimum supervision, recognizing the need for direction and assistance in situations beyond his/her scope of capabilities
- Ability to learn and participate as a team member
- Clinical skills to work with child, adolescent and adult population understanding their growth and development
