Job Summary
Entry-level Psychiatric Nursing Assistant I in Wichita Falls State Hospital supports inpatient psychiatric care under licensed nurse supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring patients, observing and reporting conditions, engaging patients therapeutically, contributing to individualized recovery plans, participating in shift reports, and providing crisis response with de-escalation when needed. Duties involve documenting patient care in the electronic record, assisting with medication monitoring under supervision, maintaining safety, and supporting recovery team activities and patient programming. Requires teamwork, basic computer skills, and the ability to work flexible/rotating schedules; CPR certification or obtaining it within 60 days, and compliance with background checks and immunization policies are required. Telework not applicable; travel up to 5%.
Required Qualifications
- Six months of work experience
- Six months of direct care experience preferred
- CPR certification or ability to obtain CPR within 60 days
- Valid Texas driver license or ability to obtain
- Background check, drug screen, registry checks including CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, LEIE
- Age requirements: 18+ (21+ for certain locations)
