Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnose, and manage medication for pediatric and adult patients in an outpatient setting. Assess and treat mental health and substance use disorders, including initiating and monitoring Medication-Assisted Treatment for opioid, alcohol, and other substance use disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with therapists, primary care providers, and community partners while ordering and interpreting laboratory studies. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations through accurate electronic health record maintenance and quality-improvement participation. Maintain licensure, certifications, and clinical privileges while supporting staff education as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Active and unrestricted Kansas Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license
- Active and unrestricted Kansas DEA registration
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Eligibility for professional liability coverage through applicable malpractice and federal coverage programs
- Ability to successfully complete credentialing and privileging requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and community partners
- Demonstrated social and cultural sensitivity when working with ethnically and economically diverse populations
- Commitment to patient education, preventive care, and improving access to care for underserved communities
Desired Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in a community health center, outpatient behavioral health practice, or similar clinical environment
- Experience treating both pediatric and adult behavioral health patients
- Experience providing Medication-Assisted Treatment for substance use disorders
- Experience working within an integrated or interdisciplinary care model
