Job Summary
Conduct health assessments, record symptoms, and physically examine patients to make diagnoses and develop treatment plans for psychiatric disorders including ADHD, mood disorders, and anxiety. Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, and nurses to monitor patient progress, order and interpret laboratory results, and educate patients on healthy habits. Evaluate treatment effectiveness and follow up on patients to adjust care as needed while working under the supervision of the Director of Psychiatric Services. This role supports a diverse, underserved population residing in skilled nursing facilities within California, emphasizing the biopsychosocial model to improve quality of life.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
- Registered professional nurse authorized by the State of California to practice as an NP
- Master's or doctoral degree in nursing
- Certification by a recognized national certifying body
- Background as a registered nurse (RN)
- Two-year associate degree in nursing, a three-year hospital-based nursing diploma, or a four-year bachelor's degree at a college or university
- Accredited certification, such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (PMHNP-BC)
Desired Qualifications
- Obtained Medicare billing privileges as an NP for first time on/after January 1, 2003
- Obtained Medicare billing privileges as an NP for first time before January 1, 2003
- Obtained Medicare billing privileges as an NP for first time before January 1, 2001
