Job Summary
Assess, diagnose, and treat facility residents with psychiatric disorders while managing medication adjustments and maintaining comprehensive patient records. Respond immediately to psychiatric emergencies by implementing safety protocols and interventions within the controlled environment. Coordinate educational training activities and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff and psychologists, to develop and implement treatment plans. Ensure strict compliance with State and Federal mandates, court orders, and correctional healthcare policies. This role requires Board certification as a PMHNP in AL, an active RN and NP license, and DEA registration. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, physical stamina for patient handling, and the ability to work under supervision in a secure setting. Required Qualifications
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in AL
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in AL
- A current DEA registration in State
- Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals and correctional staff
- Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
