Job Summary

Assess patients' mental and physical status, diagnose psychiatric disorders, and write prescriptions for psychotropic medications. Manage medication refills, provide clinical feedback on health assessments, and document treatment plans and outcomes. Coordinate ongoing psychiatric treatment with multidisciplinary staff, prepare housing applications, and conduct crisis interventions. Train team members on medications and drug interactions, communicate with community psychiatrists, and refer residents to emergency care when needed. Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and attend monthly supervision with a collaborating psychiatrist. Work a schedule including weekends and evenings while complying with SUS and NYS Department of Social Services protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in New York State
  • Credentialed by the State to practice as an advanced Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in psychiatry
  • Registered as a NY State Medicaid provider
  • Must have a DEA#
  • Must have an individual NPI #
  • Must carry individual malpractice insurance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking
  • Experience with underserved individuals and direct service to people living with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
  • Previous experience with homeless population
