Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse assessments for Native American patients across the lifespan, diagnosing complex conditions and managing treatment plans involving psychotherapies and psychopharmacology. Collaborate with tribal, state, and private providers to coordinate care, while formulating age-appropriate medication regimens and arranging hospitalization or residential treatment during crises. Document medical records per ICD-10 and DSM-V-TR standards, order specialty referrals, and participate in case conferences to identify patient needs. Provide preventive community education to schools and service areas, and work with social services, law enforcement, and courts to ensure proper patient supervision and placement. Serve on a rotational on-call schedule to cover evenings, weekends, and holidays, maintaining bilingual communication skills in English and Navajo as preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science Nursing Degree with a Certification as PMHNP from an accredited institution of Nursing
- Certification as an advanced practice nurse by the ANCC or AANP
- valid, unrestricted Registered Nurse license
- license as a Nurse Practitioner with prescribing privileges
- valid unrestricted and insurable driver's license
- successfully pass a background investigation
- suitable requirements for a Child Care position
- Extensive knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, including psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic management
- Thorough knowledge of child development and mental health assessment and treatment in children
- Knowledge of a broad range of patient care activities
- working knowledge of the medical and specialty (referral) clinic environment
- Knowledge and experience with ICD-10 and DSM-V standards
- Knowledge of current healthcare industry Privacy Act, HIPAA, CMS, accreditation, and security requirements
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements regarding healthcare and licensing
- Knowledge of strong work ethics in the workplace
- Knowledge of basic application of confidentiality
- Knowledge of duties and responsibilities of the position
- Knowledge of basic computer skills, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to be dependable in attendance and job performance
- Ability to meet attendance, overtime (if necessary), and other reliability requirements of the job
