Job Summary
Conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and counseling for adult and youth clients. Manage clinical operations by coordinating patient schedules, reviewing acute medical responses, and processing prescriptions within one business day. Provide on-call coverage for prescriber vacations and handle coverage for RN duties as needed. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with NYDOH and OMH regulations while communicating effectively with staff, families, and community resources.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with focus on Psychiatric nursing
- Appropriate NYS Professional Certification and Licensure
- Ability to work with both adult and youth/child populations
- 3+ years of experience as a psychiatric provider
- Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of New York
- Valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in New York
- Registration with the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) in New York
- No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP)
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize the daily operations of the department or program
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in planning, implementing and evaluating work with individuals, customers, and staff
- Demonstrated tolerance for stressful interactions and situations
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and general computer skills
- Knowledge and proficiency in use of Electronic Health Record System
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in providing service to individuals with disabilities preferred
