Job Summary
Provide coordinated mental health services to the inmate population, overseeing all aspects of treatment while ensuring safety in a secure environment. Diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans based on thorough evaluations. Perform assessments including suicide prevention and defusing disruptive situations, maintain records in compliance with HIPAA, and prepare progress reports. Collaborate with internal and external professionals to ensure continuity of care while adhering to security protocols. Develop therapeutic programs to address inmate needs and promote positive social skills. Serve on an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend emergency interventions. Maintain current CPR certification and attend regular on-site shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited physician's assistant program
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program
- Current license as a PMHNP
- Current DEA registration
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Regular on-site attendance
- Ability to successfully complete annual in-service training requirements
- Ability to maintain appropriate facility clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Two to five years' experience in the correctional or psychiatric setting
