Job Summary
Deliver high-quality psychiatric care for older adults by administering prescribed medications, conducting mental-state exams and psychosocial assessments, and developing consumer-centred care plans in collaboration with the MDT. Provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented services, mentor and support consumers and staff, and contribute to discharge planning and group education. Role requires registration with AHPRA as an Enrolled Nurse, a post-registration qualification in mental health nursing, and an NMBA-approved qualification in medication administration (or progress toward it). Strong communication skills, knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act, and proficiency with MS Teams/Zoom/telehealth are required. The Steele Haughton Unit is a 10-bed aged-acute and 20-bed residential inpatient unit delivering clinical services for older adults with complex mental health conditions within Grampians Health in Victoria, Australia, offering flexible work arrangements and salary packaging.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with AHPRA as an Enrolled Nurse (mandatory)
- Post-registration qualification in mental health nursing
- NMBA-approved qualification in medication administration (or working toward it)
- Ability to apply recovery principles in practice
- Demonstrated effective communication with consumers and carers
- Knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act, 2022
