Job Summary
Supervise daily activities of Protective Security Officers (PSOs) at FPS-protected IRS facilities, ensuring compliance with the FPS Statement of Work, Post Orders, and Post Desk Book requirements. Manage shift operations to maintain security coverage, monitor officer performance and adherence to procedures, and respond to routine and emergency security situations. Provide guidance, training, and direction to security personnel while coordinating incident response and ensuring proper reporting. Conduct post inspections to maintain operational readiness and support the Captain and Contract Manager in achieving mission objectives. This overnight shift role requires a proven security professional with leadership experience to oversee operations for government personnel, visitors, and facilities.
Required Qualifications
- (3) years of supervisory experience in armed security, law enforcement, military service, or federal protective services
- Demonstrated experience supervising personnel in a security or operational environment
- Meets all FPS Protective Security Officer medical standard qualification requirements
- Valid Maryland State Police Security Guard Certification
- Active Maryland Handgun Wear and Carry Permit
- Current Maryland State Police approved firearms training and weapons qualification
- Must maintain a professional appearance and comply with all FPS contract uniform and grooming standards as required
- Prior experience with access control, screening operations, patrol and response, and incident reporting
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to write clear, accurate, and timely reports
- Must be eligible for and maintain required FPS suitability and access credentials
- Working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Outlook
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
- This position is for overnight shifts
