Job Summary

Conduct classroom and hands-on lab instruction for the Diesel program, ensuring students adhere to safety protocols while preparing daily activities and maintaining a clean, stocked workspace. Manage student records, grade assignments, administer exams, and evaluate performance through assessments and simulations. Provide feedback, handle disciplinary actions, and advise students on academic progress, employability skills, and job placement opportunities. Collaborate with employers for recruitment, participate in college functions, and stay current with industry standards and technical certifications. Perform administrative tasks including printing materials, tracking attendance, entering grades, creating syllabi, and managing inventory for tools and supplies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least three years of related work experience
  • Current ASE certifications in T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7 and T8
  • Ability to carry out the essential functions of the job satisfactorily
  • Ability to perform physical requirements including frequent walking, sitting, bending, squatting, and exposure to extreme heat
  • Ability to handle deliveries, restock materials, and cut materials
  • Ability to oversee shop/lab cleanliness and ongoing maintenance
  • Ability to stay abreast of industry standards and changes in technology
  • Ability to maintain technical certifications/licenses necessary for the position
  • Ability to handle student disciplinary action escalating when needed
  • Ability to advise students on academic progress, employability skills, internship and employment opportunities
  • Ability to collaborate with outside agencies and employers for potential job placement
  • Ability to participate in program planning, accreditation reviews, and institutional effectiveness initiatives
  • Ability to enter grades into the computer system and any other reporting as reasonably needed
  • Ability to create/revised syllabus and course schedules as needed
  • Ability to manage inventory and provide a list of supplies, tools and materials that need to be ordered
  • Ability to ensure efficient use of supplies with minimal waste
  • Ability to ensure workspace is clean, safe, stocked and free of broken or unusable equipment
  • Ability to ensure students adhere to safety protocols and procedures when handling equipment and tools
  • Ability to take attendance and maintain student records
  • Ability to prepare daily lab activities and any other scheduled instructional activities
  • Ability to prepare and administer exams, appropriate to course content, including the comprehensive final exam
  • Ability to evaluate student performance through assessments, projects, simulations and practicums
  • Ability to provide student feedback
  • Ability to assist with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for departmental programs
  • Ability to actively participate in college functions, events, and engage in community service
  • Ability to print worksheets, track attendance, and prepare instructional materials
  • Ability to support college's strategic initiatives for student success, retention, completion, placement and continuous improvement for accreditation
  • Ability to oversee material handling
  • Ability to ensure ongoing maintenance
  • Ability to successfully complete a Level II criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting
  • Ability to participate in the US E-Verify program
  • Ability to submit Form DD214 as an attachment as part of the application at the time of submission (for veterans' preference claim)
