PSA Engineer I

Job Summary

Develop Level 1 and Level 2 PRA models for internal and external events across full power and shutdown modes. Support RELAP5-3D and MELCOR modeling to simulate core and containment responses for severe accident scenarios. Construct event trees and fault trees to estimate key design risk metrics like core damage frequency and large release frequency. Maintain PSA models as the SMR-300 design matures and apply results to risk-informed programs including RTNSS and 10 CFR 50.69 categorization. Interface with design teams to implement PSA insights and ensure deliverable quality. Requires a B.S. in nuclear or mechanical engineering, 2-4 years in PRA or thermal-hydraulic safety analysis, and familiarity with codes like RELAP5-3D or MELCOR. Located in Camden, NJ, with an annual compensation range of $115,000 to $140,000.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
  • 2-4 years of experience in probabilistic risk assessment and/or thermal-hydraulic safety analysis for nuclear facilities
  • Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with thermal-hydraulic behavior of light water reactors (LWRs)
  • Familiarity with probabilistic risk assessment and/or thermal-hydraulic analysis methods for light-water reactors
  • Exposure to industry codes such as CAFTA, SAPHIRE, RiskSpectrum, RELAP5-3D, or MELCOR
