Job Summary
Proxmox Migration Consultant to assess existing VMware/Hyper-V environments, design target Proxmox VE architecture, plan and execute migrations with minimal downtime, stand up Proxmox clusters with backups and monitoring, document runbooks and operational procedures, and perform knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Required Qualifications
- Proxmox VE expertise — cluster setup, management, upgrades, day-2 operations
- VMware migration experience — vSphere/ESXi/vCenter to Proxmox
- Hyper-V migration experience — Hyper-V/SCVMM, VHD/VHDX handling
- KVM / QEMU virtualization — VirtIO drivers, guest agent, performance tuning
- Linux system administration — Debian-based systems, shell, services
- Storage — Ceph and/or ZFS, plus NFS/iSCSI
- Network and security operations — Linux networking, VLANs, bonding, SDN, PKI/certificates
- Backup and DR — Proxmox Backup Server, snapshot/replication, Veeam or equivalent
- Automation and tooling — Bash and/or Python, Ansible/Terraform
- IT service management awareness — ticketing/CMDB, migration/runbooks
- Communication and stakeholder management
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Project management and documentation
