Job Summary
Shadow a Provider during face-to-face encounters to take real-time notes in the electronic medical record. Document the history of present illness, past medical and surgical history, family and social history, review of systems, physical exam findings, and the Provider's impression, assessment, and plan. Accurately transcribe medical reports, history & physical, relevant orders, and patient instructions, recording only information verbalized or inferred by licensed practitioners. Assist with the preparation of school/work notes and letters to Referring Providers. Requires 50 wpm keyboarding speed, one year of transcription experience preferred, and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Able to keyboard 50 wpm
- Able to use a computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Able to operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position
- Able to distinguish colors as necessary
- Able to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace
- Able to see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position
Desired Qualifications
- Completed course work in medical terminology, stenographer, secretarial or transcription
- No experience required, minimum one year of transcription experience preferred
