Provider/Optometrist

Job Summary
Provide outpatient comprehensive optometric primary care services, including preventative, acute, and chronic care, clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Review incoming reports such as labs and images, sign off, and follow up per guidelines while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding and billing requirements. Facilitate referrals for patients requiring services not offered at CFHC, coordinate with care team nurses, and precept students as assigned. Participate in Collaboratives, health care programs, and Peer Review activities to ensure compliance with clinical measures and state/federal regulations. Act as a resource for medical support staff, provide feedback for evaluations, and make recommendations regarding clinical supplies and equipment. Work flexible hours as assigned and maintain proper certification through all required training courses.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate of Optometry from an accredited university
- Active Florida License
- Current BLS certification from an accredited AHA or American Red Cross provider
- Ability to quickly identify problems as well as their most effective treatments
- Skilled in addressing patient care needs in a compassionate and empathetic manner
- Skilled in working in a collaborative, team-based practice
- Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional and courteous environment
- Adept at managing reasonable patient expectations and complaints
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Internet, Athena Health-related software, and online resources)
- Logical, methodical approach to work and capable of meticulous record-keeping
- Commitment and ability to keep up to date with scientific and technological developments/literature
- Able to work flexible hours as assigned
- Requires 80% or more time spent standing/walking
- Independently mobile
- Ability to lift weight equivalent to that would be required when occasionally assisting and positioning patients, repositioning equipment, and lifting supplies
- Ability to adapt and function in varying environments of workload, patient acuity, worksites, and work shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience preferred
- DEA license (optional)
- Some knowledge of accreditation standards (AAAHC, HRSA) is preferred
- Bilingual preferred
