Job Summary
Provide professional nursing support to oncology and hematological patients following established standards. Utilize the nursing process to facilitate continuing healthcare opportunities, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Prepare patients for examinations, assist with procedures, and administer IV medications and oral medications while maintaining central line maintenance. Delegate and supervise LPNs and clinical support staff to ensure patient flow and avoid delays. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to meet physical, psychosocial, and educational needs, teaching patients on symptom evaluation and medication effectiveness. Adhere to safety standards, error prevention protocols, and quality improvement measures such as QOPI and ONS. Guide patients through diagnosis complexities and the healthcare system with empathy and compassion.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
- One year of nursing experience
- Knowledge of nursing and clinical systems
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to nursing practice, OSHA, and HIPAA requirements
- Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions
- Knowledge of quality metrics
- Skill in organizing work to achieve clinical goals and meet patient/medical provider needs
- Skill to maintain clinical competency as required for licensure and clinic standards
- Skill to ensure that equipment and facilities are in proper condition for use in delivering health care
- Skill to engage diverse populations and provide culturally sensitive coaching, education, and assistance
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Ability to integrate new work process and adapt to change
- Ability to exercise courtesy, tact, and professionalism
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment relevant to changing patient needs
