Job Summary
Design and build electromechanical prototypes and experimental systems by integrating electronic components, microcontrollers, and mechanical assemblies. Develop embedded software and firmware for prototype applications while creating mechanical parts using 3D CAD and rapid-manufacturing techniques. Assemble, debug, and test complete systems in the laboratory to run experiments that validate technical feasibility and performance. Rapidly modify designs based on test results and engineering feedback while collaborating with specialists across disciplines to solve complex development challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a comparable technical discipline
- Practical electronics development experience
- Exposure to microcontrollers / embedded software / firmware
- Mechanical design and 3D CAD experience
- Experience with 3D printing or rapid prototyping
- Confidence building and troubleshooting physical systems
- Strong practical engineering and problem-solving ability
- Curiosity and willingness to learn technologies outside your core specialism
