Job Summary
Provide keyboard/piano and/or guitar accompaniment for Protestant worship services, including traditional, contemporary, and gospel music styles, under the direction of the assigned Chaplain. Assist with planning and coordinating music for services and participate in weekly vocal rehearsals lasting at least 30 minutes. Ensure all audio/visual equipment is set up and tested prior to each event, and leave the worship team area clean and restored to its original configuration. Perform music for special services such as Easter Sunrise, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and up to six weddings, funerals, or memorials annually. This part-time 1099 contractor role requires proficiency in sight reading and a minimum of two years of experience in a Chapel setting.
Required Qualifications
- 1099 contractor status with Music Ministry International
- Minimum of two-years of experience playing keyboard/piano and/or guitar accompaniment for a Chapel or church setting
- Experience accompanying vocalists and/or congregation in Chapel setting utilizing wide range of traditional, contemporary, and gospel Christian music for all Protestant music groups and events as well as assisting with ecumenical events
- Proficiency on piano, keyboard and/or guitar
- Vocal ability
- Ability to sight read
- Experience utilizing innovative approaches to effectively play music in a way that enhances the spiritual value of Protestant worship services and encourages congregational members to participate in musical worship
- Responsibility to play music for Easter Sunrise and Good Friday Services (rehearsal and performance)
- Responsibility to play music for Christmas Eve (rehearsal and performance)
- Responsibility to play music for Weddings/funerals/memorials (not to exceed 6 per year)
- Possession of three references from individuals who can attest to the candidate's good work and steadiness
- One reference must be a priest or pastor who can attest to the candidate's abilities as they relate to this job posting
