Job Summary
Develop and manage a comprehensive Protestant religious education program for military members and dependents at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, including weekly Bible studies, Children's Church, Vacation Bible School, and annual events like Christmas programs and Lenten studies. Recruit, train, and assess volunteer teachers and assistants while ensuring all personnel working with youth under 18 complete required background checks. Coordinate with parish leaders and the designated chaplain to plan curriculum, maintain administrative records, submit weekly reports on attendance and program status, and organize annual volunteer training sessions. Prepare annual budgets and religious education calendars for chapel planning. This part-time role involves approximately 960 hours yearly with compensation based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Possess familiarity with general Protestant doctrine, teachings, rites, and worship styles
- Possess program management and Windows-based computer system (i.e., Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Acrobat, etc.) skills to plan, develop, coordinate, advertise, and implement a comprehensive religious education plan for SJAFB
- The ability to solicit and work harmoniously with volunteer teachers and leaders
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Have a minimum of two years' experience as a Religious Education Coordinator/Religious Activities Coordinator in a military chapel, or as a civilian director of religious education or parish programming
- Successfully complete an Installation Records Check
- Successfully complete an FBI Fingerprint Check
- Successfully complete a Tier 1 with Child Care Coverage check which includes a State Crime History Report
