Job Summary
Lead traditional and contemporary Protestant worship services at Shaw Air Force Base, providing vocal leadership and instrumental accompaniment on piano, keyboard, or acoustic guitar. Direct weekly rehearsals for musicians and volunteers, coordinate song selections with the Chaplain, and prepare arrangements and song sheets. Recruit, train, and mentor praise-team members while managing equipment setup, sound checks, and storage. Support up to 10 special services annually, including holidays, weddings, and memorials. Complete music licensing and CCLI reporting, maintain relationships with chapel staff and congregation, and adhere to base security and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of experience as a worship leader, music director, musician, or accompanist in a Protestant worship setting
- Experience with both traditional and contemporary Christian music
- Strong singing ability
- Proficiency in piano, keyboard, acoustic guitar, or another suitable instrument
- Experience leading rehearsals and directing vocalists and instrumentalists
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Strong punctuality
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a diverse, multi-denominational military chapel environment
- Ability to pass required background checks
- Ability to obtain access to Shaw Air Force Base
- Availability for weekly Sunday services
- Availability for scheduled special events
