Job Summary
Source and purchase protein products (meat, poultry, seafood) based on demand forecasts while developing strong supplier relationships. Negotiate pricing and contracts to ensure cost-effective purchasing, monitor market trends, and coordinate with sales and operations teams to align stock with customer needs. Ensure product quality and food safety compliance, manage inventory levels to minimize waste, and resolve supply issues or shortages promptly. Track purchasing data, margins, and performance metrics to drive operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment handling perishable products
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
- The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone
- The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
