Job Summary
The Protective Services Officer provides internal and external safety/security functions at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC, including escorts, patrols of grounds and parking areas, monitoring CCTV, enforcing hospital policies, responding to emergencies, and documenting all duties via logs and incident reports. Requires a valid driver’s license, High school diploma or GED, and completes BLS within 6 months; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training within 6 months; 1-2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred; Vocational/Technical degree preferred. Proficient use of radios, surveillance systems, access control software, and knowledge of emergency procedures and disaster plans. Maintains professional appearance and adherence to policies while ensuring safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire)
- Licensing/Certification: Valid driver’s license (required)
- Vocational/Technical Degree (preferred)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (Required within 6 months of hire)
- 1-2 years of security, law enforcement, or miliary experience (preferred)
