Protective Security Officer - FPS - Virginia

Job Summary

Protect personnel and property professionally while conducting internal and external foot patrols, operating x-ray equipment, and managing traffic control duties. Screen and process visitors efficiently, identify rule violations, and respond to alarms and emergency situations by securing entrances, exits, and maintaining key control. Communicate via radio, observe incidents, and provide first aid or CPR as needed while adhering to safety protocols and company policies. Maintain required training, fitness, and weapons qualifications to support improvement programs and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individuals name and social security number
  • A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) or law enforcement experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any U.S. Armed Forces Component
  • Received a High School Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Received a General Equivalency Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • A minimum of 60 credit hours, in a related field, from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Successful completion of a federal/state certified law enforcement education and training or police officer's standard training course that may result in a law enforcement appointment
  • Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English
  • Must be able to pass an English Language Assessment Test
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • This position requires in-service training, in accordance with the guidance and direction of the Department of Homeland Security Federal Protective Service
  • 36-Hour FPS Basic/Refresher
  • 32-Hour FPS Initial Weapons
  • 16-Hour NWDTP
  • 8-Hour FPS Orientation
  • First Aid CPR AED
  • CPR/First Aid Card
  • DCJS Armed License (Current)
  • Maintain regular, in-person attendance
  • Wear required protective gear, including body armor
  • Maintain required training, fitness, and weapons qualifications
  • Follow safety protocols and support improvement programs
  • 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift, Weekends
