Job Summary
Conduct protective security operations for Federal Protective Service clients in Maryland, including screening visitors, performing foot patrols, operating x-ray equipment, and responding to alarms. Identify and report rule violations, manage traffic control, and maintain key systems while wearing required protective gear. Communicate via radio, provide first aid or CPR as needed, and document all incidents. Maintain weapons qualifications, fitness, and regular attendance while adhering to safety protocols and post orders.
Required Qualifications
- Be a United States citizen
- Been issued a Social Security Card
- A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) or law enforcement experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any U.S. Armed Forces Component
- Received a High School Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Received a General Equivalency Diploma
- A minimum of 60 credit hours, in a related field, from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Successful completion of a federal/state certified law enforcement education and training or police officer's standard training course that may result in a law enforcement appointment of commission
- Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English
- Must be able to pass an English Language Assessment Test
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Have a current Maryland Guard Card
- Have a current Maryland Handgun Permit
- 36-Hour FPS Basic/Refresher Training
- 32-Hour FPS Initial Weapons Training
- 16-Hour NWDTP Initial X-Ray Screening Training
- 8-Hour FPS Orientation Briefing
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification
- Pre-employment screenings
- DHS Suitability
- CPR/First Aid Card
- DCJS Armed License (Current)
