Job Summary
The Protection Services Officer 1 role involves maintaining the hospital's general security and controlling public access, operating Security Visual and Audio Communication Control systems, and working on a 24-hour rotating in-person shift schedule. The incumbent will perform security duties in a healthcare setting, require a Manitoba Security Guard License, pass criminal and registry checks, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and confidential communication skills. Key duties include safeguarding hospital facilities and equipment, and applying appropriate security procedures in collaboration with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12, Manitoba Standards, minimum.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Security Guard License and/or any future license mandated by the province to perform the duties of the Protection Services Officer.
- Bondable and eligible for appointment as a Special Constable with the Department of Attorney General.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with others.
- Must maintain confidentiality according to Department and Hospital Policy.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
- Good command of the English language.
- Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
