Protection Officer (Kherson)

Job Summary
Support day-to-day project implementation in Kherson by conducting site assessments, facilitating community dialogues, and providing protective accompaniment to vulnerable civilians. Monitor and verify incidents of violence and displacement while regularly assessing humanitarian service availability. Collaborate with the Team Leader to build relationships with local NGOs, authorities, and community-based organizations, and lead training sessions on civilian protection, human rights law, and early warning systems. Document activities through written reports and ensure adherence to NP safeguarding policies and humanitarian principles. This role requires fluency in English, Ukrainian, and/or Russian, and is open only to Ukrainian nationals.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in a related field (Social Science, Development Studies, etc.)
- 1-2 years relevant work experience in civilian/humanitarian/child protection and human rights
- Understanding on civil protection and human rights frameworks
- Understanding of conflict dynamics in Ukraine
- Understanding of the humanitarian and DO NO HARM principles
- Knowledge and understanding in peace making, peacekeeping and peace building and social cohesion concepts
- Report writing skills
- Able to communicate in oral and written English, as well as Ukrainian and/or Russian
- Ukrainian Nationals only
Desired Qualifications
- Interest in peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and civilian protection and human rights
- Practical experience in these fields
- Qualifications or commensurate practical experience in peacebuilding, conflict transformation or nonviolent peacekeeping
- NGO/ humanitarian work
- Post-conflict/conflict area experience
- Experience in community organizing/mobilization
- Experience leading or coordinating trainings
