Job Summary

Design protection, control, and metering systems for electrical substations ranging from 12 to 500 kV, developing application documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, and IED settings for power system protective relaying. Prepare and review engineering specifications, inspection plans, and material take-offs while coordinating construction, commissioning, and factory inspections with utility clients and subcontractors. Lead projects from conception through completion, mentoring junior engineers and responding to site information requests to deliver accurate as-built documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university
  • Professional Engineering designation
  • ability to register as a professional in Canada or the United States
  • 5-7 years of protection, control and metering experience in a Transmission and Distribution Utility or EPC organization designing substations
  • Clean driving record/abstract

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven working experience of relay setting and coordination including ASPEN as well as SEL and GE relay protection systems
  • Proven field experience with outage planning, construction sequencing and commissioning
  • Familiarity with utility P&C maintenance and operational practices
