Job Summary

Develop comprehensive protection and control design packages for high-voltage substations, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, control house layouts, and relay panel arrangements. Design auxiliary systems such as station batteries and chargers, then coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate project execution. Provide technical support during construction by responding to field questions and assisting with design revisions while meeting project schedules, budgets, and client expectations. This role supports the design and delivery of high-voltage substation projects for electric utilities, contractors, and developers from conceptual design through detailed engineering.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline
  • 6+ years of experience in protection and control design for utility substations
  • Experience designing substations ranging from 15kV through 345kV
  • Working knowledge of applicable IEEE, ANSI, and utility design standards
  • Strong understanding of protection and control design principles, drafting standards, and construction practices
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Desired Qualifications

  • experience with MicroStation is a plus
