Job Summary
Develop comprehensive protection and control design packages for high-voltage substations, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA drawings, control house layouts, cable schedules, and relay panel front and rear layouts. Perform engineering calculations for AC auxiliary system sizing, battery sizing, and voltage drop, then coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate project execution. Provide technical support during construction by responding to field questions and assisting with design revisions while delivering quality work within project schedules and budgets.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline
- 6+ years of experience in protection and control design for utility substations
- Experience designing substations ranging from 15kV through 345kV
- Working knowledge of applicable IEEE, ANSI, and utility design standards
- Strong understanding of protection and control design principles, drafting standards, and construction practices
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to learn new technologies and design software as needed
Desired Qualifications
- experience with MicroStation
- Experience with substation BIM design software such as Inventor, SDS-P4A, or Primtech
