Job Summary
This Protection and Controls Engineer role within Transmission System Operations Engineering (TSOE) provides intermediate-level engineering work focused on ensuring compliance with NERC and industry standards for configuration changes to the transmission grid. Responsibilities include supporting Transmission Field Services during final commissioning and verification of planned and unplanned work, reviewing upcoming outages for applicable configuration changes, verifying that systems-of-record align with as-built conditions, and performing root cause analysis to drive process improvements and accurate facility ratings and relay settings. The position requires leadership and guidance to other engineers, responsibility for coordinating work activities, and ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory procedures. The role emphasizes technical breadth (journeyman-level to advanced knowledge), ability to interpret regulations, develop standards, and communicate findings through reports and meetings. On-site at two locations (New Albany, OH and Salem, VA); ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred (or engineering technology with PE licensing path), with FE exam encouraged for future licensure. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET-accredited) or Engineer Technology with PE license (as applicable)
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination encouraged/preferred
- On-site role at two Pennsylvania? actually Ohio and Virginia locations (New Albany, OH and Salem, VA)
- Proficiency in coordinating engineering activities, reviewing outages, ensuring compliance with NERC standards
- Experience or ability to lead, guide, and train other engineers
- Ability to interpret codes/regulations and develop standards
- Strong planning, budgeting, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and collaboration across multiple disciplines
