Job Summary
Implement established orthotic and prosthetic treatment plans by acquiring anthropometric data, modifying physical data, and providing preparatory care. Fabricate, repair, and maintain orthoses and prostheses while conducting structural evaluations, diagnostic fittings, and assessing interventions. Deliver gait training and functional training for self-care and work-related activities, then document patient education, instruction, and encounters. Utilize follow-up treatment plans to ensure successful outcomes, modify plans of care, and reassess patient goals. Ensure compliance with practice management plans, local, state, and federal laws, and submit claims. Participate in continuing education, train residents and students, conduct clinical research, and engage with consumer and governmental organizations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed the education and experience necessary to become certified as an Certified Prosthetic-Orthotic Assistant (CPOA) through the American Board of Certification (ABC)
- Certified Prosthetic-Orthotic Assistant (CPOA) credential through the American Board for Certification (ABC)
