Job Summary
Propulsion System Layout Engineer responsible for 3D CAD-based layout design and integration of propulsion components within constrained spaces for spacecraft systems. Collaborates across Structure, Thermal, GNC, Avionics, Operation and AIT teams; supports propulsion design through trade studies, material/component/manufacturing process selection, and feasibility assessment; drives issue resolution across sub-systems; maintains propulsion-related documents; supports FMECA, launcher requirements, and range safety; assists in design reviews and manufacturing, procurement, assembly, testing, and launch operations; requires strong communication, ownership, and adaptability; Tokyo, Japan-based, full-time; English is required with Japanese preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in 3D CAD-based layout design, including integration of multiple components within constrained spaces
- Experience designing with manufacturability, assembly, and testing considerations in mind
- Experience in fluid system design
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Prior experience in spacecraft development is not required; candidates should be adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and eager to learn new technical domains
- Proactive attitude, strong sense of ownership, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Working-level English proficiency; business-level Japanese is a plus
